Description

Oval, silver box with tortoise shell lid inlaid with silver thread piqué work lighthouse, ship and tree

Silver with tortoise shell lid inlaid with silver thread piqué work. Oval with straight sides, projecting moulded edges and a projecting hinge. The top of the slightly domed lid is decorated with a vignette of a lighthouse, ship and tree within borders of flowerhead and dots. The interior of the base has been lined or painted with a material which has corroded leaving a dark brown stain.
