Description

Hexagonal jar with poetic inscription. Porcelain, thrown, shaped, inscribed in cobalt-blue and glazed. The straight neck of this piece is slightly everted and the cylindrical body facetted, but the edges are smoothed to give it a softer appearance. The six sides of the body are inscribed in underglaze-blue with the characters kmjng ogaeg, yngdo sru, mansu mugang, which can be translated;
`Essence of gold and dewdrops of jade,
Eternal as the peach, snow-white as the lotus root.
For bountiful longevity without limits.'
The pale bluish-white glaze is evenly applied. The footring shows traces of supports made of fire-clay and fine sand.
