Description

Hard-paste porcelain painted in enamels

Hard-paste porcelain, press-moulded, and painted in green, pale gren, pale yellow, flesh pink, red, reddish-brown, buff, and black enamels. The flat, unglazed underside has a circula ventilation hole in the centre. The figure is supported on a roughly rectangular mound painted in pale green and brown. He has his right leg stretched out and his left bent, and plays a pipe which he holds in both hands. He has greyish-black hair in a bunch at the nape of his neck, and wears aa black neck tie, a pale yellow hat with the broad brim turned up on his right side, a white waistcoat with green edges and pocket flaps, a green jacked, pale yellow breeches, white stockings and red shoes. A pale buff bag is slung on a strap across his body from his right shoulder.
