Potter: Cardew, Michael
Red earthenware, thrown, with pulled handle, the upper part slip-coated, and decorated with manganese-black and white slip trailing under lead-glaze. The large ovoid jar has a short narrow cylindrical neck to which is attached a pulled handle. On the opposite side of the body about 2.5 cm up from the base there is a short tubular projection into which a wooden spigot is inserted. White slip is trailed around the neck and down the back of the handle. The widest part of the body is decorated with two trailed manganese-black wavy lines, each edged with trailed white slip, appearing yellow under the lead-glaze
