Description

Dark cream earthenware decorated with applied relief’s in green and blue on brown ground

Dark cream earthenware with applied moulded handle, spout, feet, and knob, decorated with greyish-blue, green, and manganese-brown oxide colours under lead-glaze. The globular pot has a short cylindrical neck, a crabstock handle and spout, and stands on three paw feet. There are four holes surrounding a smaller hole in the wall of the pot behind the spout. The domed cover has a narrow flange, a ventilation hole, and a knob in the shape of a bird with outstretched wings. Both sides of the pot are decorated with an applied waving stem bearing four leaves and a large multi-petalled flower. the cover has four leaves radiating from the knob
