Description

Embossed lace-paper valentine front cut into a scene around a central archway and opening doors. A male figure playing a lute at centre left and a lady in a rowing boat with a pair of swans at lower centre. A putto with garlands of roses at upper centre. The doors open to a frame of green, embossed lace-paper pasted onto the back paper which is mounted with a die-cut chromolithograph of a church and flowers at the centre and a book which lifts (although no message is written beneath). The chromolithograph lifts to reveal a printed poem: 'I have / a secret in my / heart / which still remains / concealed'.
