Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
Chromolithograph of a hummingbird in flight against a background of flowers within a lace-paper frame mounted with paper springs onto blue paper with an embossed 'pleated' border. Embossed scraps with silver detailing of flowers with a scroll is affixed at lower centre and Cupid in a boat at upper centre. A chromolithographed motto affixed to the lower centre of the lace-paper frame: CONSTANCY. The inside of the card is blank. This card was produced in a variety of different coloured papers (pink, yellow, green) with alternative images (kingfisher and swan), scraps and mottoes. The album P.14343-R contains a number of cards from the same series, all mounted together. See P.14343-R-89, P.14343-R-92; P.14343-R-93, P.14343-R-94 and P.14343-R-95. A loose card, P.14403-R was probably also originally contained in this album.
