Valentine card
Publisher: Meek, George
Lace-paper with a large central panel containing a collage of dried grasses, tissue paper leaves and cut-paper, hand-coloured leaves, flowers and birds (with varnish) around a cut-out nest painted in gouache and varnished. A hand-written verse in blue ink above and continued behind the collage: "This is affection's Tribute, Friendship's offering, / whose silent eloquence, more rich than words, / (underneath the tissue paper leaves) speaks of the giver's faith in absence / and says …" (the rest of the inscription obscured by the collage). MEEK blind-embossed at lower centre. The inside of the card is blank.
