Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
Oval-shaped frame decorated with gauze and embossed gilded scrolls around a central net blind and mounted onto white lace-paper with paper springs. Chromolithographed and embossed flower scraps at all four corners and at the centre framing a small circular mirror. A motto at lower centre: "Thy hand & heart / I crave". A silk violet flower with crystal bead centre is affixed to the frame at lower centre. The inside pages are blank. Watermark on right-hand inside page: T. & J. H. / 1867. This card was included in the exhibition of valentine cards, _For ever thine: the nineteenth century valentine_, held in the Charrington Print Room at the Fitzwilliam Museum in 1995, no. 42.
