Valentine card
Publisher: Dobbs, Henry
White lace-paper in a design of gothic archways with a male figure wearing medieval dress standing on a fluted plinth on the left and a larger archway surmounted by Cupids and a shield with a pierced heart inside it on the right. On a blank panel below this archway is a collage of pink gauze clouds and cut-paper lily of the valley with hand-painted stems and hand-written scroll in red ink: "The Emblem of my best belov'd". The collage lifts up to reveal a hand-written inscription in black ink (presumably written by the sender): "My home is where / thou art". Another collage of cut-paper silver metallic foliage and dark red silk flowers below. DOBBS KIDD & CO embossed on the plinth at lower left. The inside pages are blank.
