Believe Me Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
A small, 48mo-size 'raised' valentine comprising a top layer of lace-paper with central oval window, decorated with gilt embossed flowers in each corner and mounted with paper springs to a second layer of white embossed paper with shaped edges tinted blue. A large flower scrap is affixed over the central window and lifts up to reveal a letterpress verse printed on a circle of lilac paper with a crimped edge: 'BELIEVE ME / Lovely thou art, / ay lovely, / In spirit and in form; / A sunbeam glancing / o'er life's tears, / A rainbow through / the storm'. The second layer of embossed paper is decorated with scraps of violet garlands at upper and lower centre. The front paper is adhered to the back paper.
