Description

A hand-made valentine consisting of a single sheet of 8vo-size pink wove paper mounted with 'brackets' of white lace paper at each corner and a central oval-shaped scalloped border of white lace-paper with a rice-paper centre decorated with a stencilled scene painted in gouache of a coloured bird carrying a letter in its beak with flowers below. At lower centre, inbetween the scalloped indentations of the border, is a hand-written message in black ink (presumably in the sender's hand): 'I love you dearly'. The verso is blank.
