Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
12mo-size white wove paper with waved 'solomonic' cameo-embossed border (as lace) with a dark yellow ground. At the centre is a lithographed design in gold ink of a scalloped border with 'scallop shell' design around a basket containing stencilled red flowers and green leaves. There are lithographed stems and leaves in green ink at upper and lower centre with applied cut-paper and hand-coloured flowers. A lithographed message in gold ink is printed at upper and lower centre: 'To my dear Valentine / This offering I send'. P.14414-R-20, mounted beside P.14414-R-19 on the same album leaf, has a similar lithographed design on paper with the same waved cameo-embossed border. There are other cards of a similar design in album P.14414-R, all of which employ the same wavy, embossed border. One of these, P.14414-R-88 employs similar lithographed leafy branches and gold 'scallop shell' border.
