Description

A large 8vo white wove paper valentine with an embossed border design of flowers, acanthus scrolls and scallop shells. At the centre is a lozenge of applied white lace-paper (positioned horizontally) containing a panel of rice-paper with a hand-painted design of leafy branches and flowers. Four silver paper ornaments of laurel wreaths are affixed around the central lozenge over stencilled sprays of leafy branches in blue ink/paint. A verse is hand-written at upper and lower centre: 'There's not a thought I breathe for thee / I would not have returned to me'. 'G. KERSHAW LONDON' stamped at lower left and lower right. The interior is blank. From the same series as another card, P.14414-R-55, which is mounted in the same album.
