Valentine card
Publisher: Mansell, Joseph
White lace-paper with a collage of cut-paper leaves and flowers at lower centre. A hand-coloured card cut-out of a pink rose with forget-me-nots is affixed at the centre, attached with white thread to a cupid's head at upper centre. It lifts up to reveal a lithographed word in blue and red ink: 'G : LOVE'. A lithographed message at upper and lower centre in blue ink describes the hidden cryptogram: 'Here is a Puzzle / It is easily spelt / And sure never a Puzzle was better / It proclaims the passion / My bosom hath felt / If you take but away one letter'. 'MANSELL' stamped at lower right (viewed from the verso). The interior is blank.
