Valentine card
Publisher: Addenbrooke, Joseph
8vo white wove paper with lace-paper border affixed at the centre with a collage of green and red silk leaves, fabric forget-me-not and cut-paper, hand-coloured pink rose with hand-painted and stencilled additions of leaves. Silver paper scroll ornaments affixed at upper and lower centre and left and right. A handwritten verse in red ink at upper and lower centre: 'Say dear love with thou incline / To mingle faithful love with mine / To plight the fond endearing vow / Of faithful love as I do now'. 'ADDENBROOKE' stamped at lower right. '1846' is written in graphite on the inside right-hand page at lower right. This inscription has also been transcribed in graphite onto the album leaf below this card, apparently in the same hand. The date most likely relates to an inscription found on the verso or a watermark that cannot be viewed now the paper is mounted into the album.
