Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
12mo-size white wove paper with waved 'solomonic' embossed border. A rectangular panel of lace-paper is affixed at the centre which has a central window and blind of dark green tissue paper mounted with a silver paper dove ornament surrounded with radiating strokes of red ink. At upper and lower centre are stencilled leaves in green paint with hand-drawn stems and applied coloured tissue paper flowers (both with losses). The interior is blank. The front paper is adhered to the back paper at the upper left inside corner. There are other cards of a similar design in album P.14414-R, all of which employ the same wavy, embossed border; P.14414-R-59 and P.14414-R-60. See also, P.14415-R-L4, which employs the same green tissue paper blind, dove ornament and radiating lines in addition to the stencilled stems, leaves and applied paper flowers on a lace-paper panel by George Kershaw.
