Description

A white, lace-paper panel with a rice-paper blind at the centre. The panel, probably originally attached to a back paper, is mounted onto a larger piece of 8vo-size green wove paper. The rice-paper is mounted with a collage of cut-paper and hand-coloured leaves and flowers with parrot, dog and central circular temple. Two cut-paper, hand-coloured flowers are applied onto the lace-paper at lower left and right. A title is handwritten in blue ink on the rice-paper at upper centre: 'Startling Intelligence'. A handwritten message just below reads: 'I love you dearly'. 'L/C' written in graphite onto the green paper secondary support at upper centre. Similar inscriptions/markings in graphite are found on other cards in the same album.
