Valentine card
Publisher: J.T. Wood & Co
A leaf of green lace-paper, mounted as landscape orientation onto a slightly larger sheet of white wove paper and pasted along the upper edge. At the centre is an oval panel of cameo-embossed, die-cut paper with gilt detail showing a scene of a couple sitting below a tree to the right, a house and church to the left. A paper spring is attached to the back of the panel which renders the scene 3-dimensional when the panel is lifted up. A circular, gilt-edged frame at the centre contains a panel of chromolithographed flowers with a blue border. A garland of cerise and yellow cut-paper flowers frames the lower half of the central panel, at the centre of which is a cut-paper, lithographed, hand-coloured flower with leaves and a motto on a scroll: 'THINE ONLY'. 'WOOD' is stamped at the left side of the central panel of the green lace-paper (visible from the verso). The green lace-paper probably originally had a back paper.
