Valentine card

A single panel of white embossed paper with shaped edges and central oval window with silk border entwined with metallic thread. A pink, hand-coloured background is overlaid with rice-paper (damaged) which is printed with a verse: 'I've gazed on thee with / looks that told / The love that in my / bosom burned! / And I have dared the hope / to hold / THAT MY AFFECTION / WAS RETURNED! / 'Tis sweet to love and / sweeter still / the hope to be beloved / again; ...'. The embossed paper is decorated with three embossed flower scraps at upper centre and centre left and right. A silver metallic fern frond (some losses are apparent) is affixed at lower centre.
