Valentine card

Embossed, die-cut and lace-paper frame in pink and silver in a design of scrolls and flowers which is mounted onto a front of white laid paper. A panel of embossed, die-cut and lace-paper in pink and silver in a design of tasselled swags and scrolls is affixed at the centre on paper springs and decorated with a white silk ribbon bow at upper centre. A central window displays a silver-framed roundel containing rice-paper, hand-painted with violets, which is affixed (upside-down) to the white laid paper front. The interior is blank. A partial watermark is visible on the inside right-hand page: ' [...] & Sons / [18]63'. A hand-written inscription on the album leaf transcribes the watermark: 'W M [watermark] 1863'.
