Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
A roundel of silver lace-paper of unfurling fern fronds and flower design in two layers, the first layer mounted to the second with paper springs, although both layers are now adhered together. The top layer is decorated with a cut-paper hand-coloured bird at upper centre and a cut-paper scroll with lithographed detail in gold ink and motto: 'A TOKEN OF LOVE'. A circular window at the centre contains a collage of frosted fabric flowers and an embossed silver and white paper ornament of Cupid in a shell boat. A hand-written inscription in graphite on the album leaf above: 'G'. The same letter in the same hand is written above no. 4 in the same album.
