Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
White embossed cameo lace-paper with a scene of fluted and garlanded classical columns and winged putti overlaid with cut-paper and hand-coloured putti, some with flower garlands, with cut-paper embossed gold metallic scrolls and hand-colouring at upper left and right. At the centre is a collage of pink and lilac linen flowers and leaves with some cut-paper greenery and tinsel flower centres. A small rectangle of white paper with crimped edges and pink lithographed detail is printed with the motto: 'Think of me / kindly / when away'. The front paper is adhered to the back. P.14418-R-2 is an almost identical design, but with a different motto. The putti in P.14418-R are less damaged than those seen in P.14418-R-2. The putti in P.14418-R-10 were probably originally mounted onto paper springs, as in P.14418-R-2, but are now pasted down.
