Valentine card
Publisher: Unknown
An 8vo-size valentine with a silver and green embossed lace-paper front and central oval window with a white satin blind mounted with a novelty straw basket filled with real moss and embossed and hand-coloured paper apples and flowers. Two further garlands of embossed, hand-coloured paper flowers are arranged above and below the basket. The green and silver lace-paper front is adhered to the back paper. A hand-written inscription in graphite on the album leaf above: '1868', which is probably a transcription of a date found on the verso of the valentine prior to mounting into the album. The hand is probably that of Catherine Parsons (1890-1956), who mounted and arranged Glaisher's valentine albums from the Autumn of 1924 through to the Summer of the following year and beyond.
