Description

A white lace-paper valentine front pasted directly onto a leaf of cream wove paper. The central panel of the lace-paper has a heart-shaped window with a hand-coloured edge in red and a pink gauze blind mounted with a collage of cut-paper and hand-coloured violets and with a hand-written motto in black ink: 'I love but thee'. Below, is a collage of cut-paper leaves and hand-coloured flowers arranged in an upward curve and with hand-written words at each end: 'Bliss' and 'Unity'. A lithographed paper scroll affixed at upper centre bears the handwritten motto in blue ink: 'Affection's Offering'. A very faint stamp at lower left: 'Dobbs & Co'.
