Description

A valentine front of embossed, white lace-paper. An embossed shield at upper centre bears Cupid's bow and quiver. At lower centre is a pair of embossed doves and flaming hearts bound with a scroll: L'AMOUR. A central window with a rice-paper blind is mounted with a roundel of white lace-paper which is decorated at the centre with cut-paper and hand-coloured flowers and foliage. The central window has an outer border hand-drawn in pen and black ink. Remnants of buff-coloured paper on the verso indicates that the valentine front was previously mounted onto an album leaf or other form of secondary support.
