The Three Maries at the Tomb
Production: Unknown
Ivory carved in relief. Under a trilobed arch in the side of the tomb recline three sleeping soldiers, the centre one holding a spear. On the top of the tomb at the right hand end is seated an angel, his legs dangling down over the arch and holding in his left hand a wand. Behind the tomb are seen the three-quarter length figures of three Maries, conversing as they carry jars of ointment.
