Description

Bone china, printed and painted in polychrome enamels with the arms of Elizabeth II, Edward the Confessor, Henry III, Elizabeth I, and gilt.

Bone china, printed in gold and brown, and painted in blue, red, and pink enamels, gold, and platinum. Decorated in the centre with the arms of Elizabeth II, and on the rim with a gothic style gold printed border, broken by the reputed arms of Edward the Confessor (top), the arms of Henry III (right), and the arms of Elizabeth I (left). On the reverse is an inscription printed in gold slightly gothic lettering, 'The St. Edward Plate/1065-1965/With the approval of Her/Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II/and the authority of the Dean/and Chapter of Westminster/this plate has been created in/celebration of the nine hundreth/anniversary of the Abbey's/foundation by St. Edward, King/and Confessor. Nine hundred plates only have been made of which this is number 881'. In square blue presentation box (A) , the lower part lined royal blue silk, and the lid lined with white silk, printed in gold in the centre with 'Spode'. Accompanied by a certificate of authentication (B) signed by the Dean of Westminster, in an envelope numbered '881', and with four newspaper cuttings.
