Description

Carved seated figure of Bes, with his tongue out and hand on his knees. There are two small indents, situated on either side of his tongue, and there are holes in his ears, perhaps suggesting an original presence of earrings? Two rounded tenon joints can be seen, with one at the top and one at the bottom of the figure. Around these, are dowel holes (three on the top) and two on the bottom (one is filled). It is important to note that there is damage to the right side of the figure and the base, meaning there may have been three dowel holes originally on the base. Other damage is present on the front left side of the headdress, the left hand is absent, and there is significant loss to the right side of the figure, both feet, the nose, and the rear of the figure also.

Bes, with dowels top and bottom
