Cream-coloured earthenware, moulded, and decorated with metallic oxides under clear lead-glaze
Cream-coloured earthenware, moulded in two parts, and decorated with metallic oxides under clear lead-glaze. Circular, the body having deep curved sides, standing on a footring, and the domed cover having a handle in the form of a dolphin. The exterior of the bowl and cover have borders of wickerwork interrupted by oval panels enclosed by scrolls.
History note: Boynton Collection; sold Stok-on-Trent, Charles Butters, 23 March, 1920, Boynton Sale, lot 264; purchased on Dr Glaisher' s behalf by Frank Stoner for £22 (hammer price £20).
