Pair of saucer dishes

Hard-paste porcelain of eggshell quality painted in pale washed tones of aubergine, iron-red, yellow, turquoise and green enamels outlined in sepia with butterflies and red-berried boughs.
Saucer dish. Hard-paste porcelain of eggshell quality painted in pale washed tones of aubergine, iron-red, yellow, turquoise and green enamels outlined in sepia. The shallow, rounded sides spring from a low tapered foot. The interior has a slightly recessed centre which is very delicately painted with three butterflies hovering beside a red-berried bough with bright leaves of green and turquoise. The branches extend over the rim onto the underside which is also decorated with two aubergine and pale yellow butterflies. A pair with OC.9-1936.
