Description

Agate and gilt metal; agate oval bowl and octagonal handle with finial of a bust of a woman draped in gilt metal

Agate and gilt metal spoon. Lilac agate bowl and handle, gilt metal mount, and white agate and gilt metal terminal. The oval bowl is carved on the back with a palm leaf pattern. It is attached to the octagonal handle, which broadens towards the terminal, by a cast gilt metal leaf-shaped mount which narrows to an octagonal ferrule. The finial is shaped as the bust of a woman, carved in white agate, wrapped in gilt metal drapery, which is tied at the front with a bow. This rests on a gilt metal ferrule of stiff leaves.
