Flatware

Scope note

Culinary utensils that are basically flat, such as forks and spoons, and have no cutting edge, as distinguished from "hollowware," such as drinking vessels and bowls. Sometimes used to embrace all types of flat culinary utensils with or without a cutting edge; however, prefer "cutlery" when referring to culinary utensils with a cutting edge, especially various forms of knives used for food.
